The issue:
I'll be blunt.... The righthand footpeg can fall off!
The casting that holds the peg is made of steel, while the frame where it rests is aluminum.
It's a recipe for disaster, though easily fixed. I've had the rear bolt fail, and trust me on this,
it's not a real good feeling.

The Fix:
A simple fix. Keep the bolts tight! Once you allow them
to come loose, metal starts wearing, and bolts start fatiguing. My rear bolt broke, and I
damaged the casting while trying to remove the remains. We ended up filling the hollow casting
with epoxy and then Heli-Coiling it. A #8 stud finished the repair, and nothing has loosened since.
Make sure that there is a metal shim (50616-MBN-670)
between the casting and frame, and the washer (90528-023-000) is installed flat side down under the
rear bolt. Summers Racing Components also offers sleeves that go
around the bolts that are supposed to help. A higher grade bolt may help keep things tight, but you are also dealing with a more brittle bolt.
This is a major safety issue, so I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE for
any damages or injuries. My info has come from the web and the february issue of Honda's "The Wrench".
